Traumatic bone cysts are managed by actively inducing healing, not by waiting. The typical approach is surgical exploration with curettage to expose the cavity, provoke bleeding, and allow a blood clot to form that eventually ossifies. This stimulates bone fill rather than leaving the lesion to resolve on its own. Because of this, observation alone is not a standard management strategy. After the procedure, regular follow-up radiographs over several months are used to confirm healing. Referral for additional evaluation is appropriate if the diagnosis is uncertain, if there are atypical features, or if healing does not proceed as expected.
